Blue Moon

I just ran across the flavor Blue Moon Ice Cream. Being an East Coastie, I have never heard of it until I saw it on a mail order ice cream site. At first I thought it was a brand. I googled it, to find the Chicago Tribune describing it as "Smurf-blue, marshmallow-sweet, and tasting remarkably like Froot Loops." Rumor has it it originated in Milwaukee and now Chicago's Edgar A. Weber and Co. owns the secret formula.

I want some.

Guess I will have to try it next time we are visiting the nephews in Minnesota. Unless anyone knows where to find this on the East Coast...

I could try making it from this recipe...

This looks and sounds really cool but, I don't know if I would like ice cream that tastes like fruit loops.
However, I do get fruity pebbles as a topping on my frozen yogurt at Pinkberry. Oops, was I not supposed to talk about frozen yogurt on an ice cream blog? sorry. :)

Ivy: If you ever try it, let me know! You can so talk about fro yo here (we talk about frozen treats!) but don't tell my best friend you like Pinkberry. Somewhere on this blog there is a quote from her saying something to the effect that if someone were holding a *gun* to her head and forcing her to eat it, she *might* eat it, but...

Haha!

I'm from Michigan, and blue moon is my FAVORITE flavor! I never realized it was a midwest thing until I moved to Cali and people in the grocery store looked at me like I was insane when I asked for blue moon or superman ice cream. I don't think it tastes like fruit loops or marshmallows. It is very creamy, and quite sweet. I can't think of a way to describe it other than it is the best, and you should try it if you get the chance!
